Overview

Childbirth coach, birth attendant and birth companion are many different ways to describe what a doula is. Doulas aren't medical professionals. They don't deliver babies or provide medical advice. Doulas assist and advocate for the birthing parent. Their goal is to help women have a safe and satisfying childbirth. A doula is very different from a midwife. We'll start the course by explaining the role and responsibilities of a doula and how their job differs from that of a midwife. Finally, you'll learn how to help parents overcome postpartum mood disorders (PMDs).
