Position: Infection Prevention Specialist Coordinator-RN Department: PHP Infection Prevention Shift: 7AM-3:30PM Facility: Miami Valley Hospital/ Will cover all hospitals The Infection Prevention Specialist Coordinator is responsible for alignment of the infection prevention program’s goals with the system/organizational strategic priorities and annual operating plan. The role is developed from the needs of the entire Premier Partners system and hospital community to reduce the risk of infection for patients, all staff and visitors. The IPC collaborates with persons administratively and clinically responsible for inpatient and outpatient departments as well as non-patient care support areas based on interpretation and evaluation of CMS, CDC, OSHA, ODH, APIC, TJC, and EPA guidelines, standards and/or regulations or other standards related to infection control and epidemiology. Education Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor’s degree Additional requirements: Type of degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred Licensure/Certification/Registration Current State of Ohio licensure as Registered Nurse Certification in Infection Control strongly preferred (upon hire) or completed within 3 years from date in position or as outlined in MOU. Experience Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 – 5 years of job related experience Preferred experience: Two years of experience in the specialty of infection control is preferred Other experience requirements: Three years clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting required Knowledge/Skills * Attendance at a basic infection control training course may be required when eligible. * Skilled at using NHSN (CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network); ability to evaluate others performance.
