ECE Subhub is seeking caring, dependable Long-Term and Short-Term Substitute Teachers to support Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms in the Flint area. These programs use the HighScope Curriculum, offering active, hands-on learning experiences for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Substitutes help maintain consistent routines, support children’s development, and provide a warm, responsive presence in the classroom. What the Role Looks Like Support teachers in Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms. Help maintain daily routines and a safe, engaging environment. Assist with caregiving routines such as feeding, diapering, and toileting. Step into classrooms that may include challenging behaviors, using patience and positive guidance. Communicate openly and honestly with teaching teams and supervisors. Adapt to different classrooms and age groups as needed. This role is ideal for someone who is flexible, calm under pressure, and comfortable supporting children with diverse developmental and behavioral needs. Physical and Professional Expectations Substitutes should be prepared for an active day that may include: Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor. Lifting up to 50 pounds when needed. Moving between floor-level and standing positions frequently. Strong communication, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism are essential.
