Overview The Fire Protection instructor is responsible for providing instruction to students within the Fire Protection Technician Associate of Applied Science Degree program in accordance with the mission, goals, policies and procedures of the College. The instructor is responsible for providing an active learning environment in the new state-of-the-art Public Safety & Transportation Center. The instructor teaches courses that enable students to achieve program learning outcomes and prepare for a career in fire protection, fire prevention and fire engineering. The instructor creates a safe, student-centered learning environment that is respectful of diversity and places learning at the center of the students’ educational experiences. This position will be open until filled, with a first review date of June 1, 2026. After this date, the recruitment may close without further notice. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Responsibilities Provide instruction for assigned classes. Facilitate learning environment including facilitation of equipment and lab set ups. Facilitate a program of student evaluations to determine effectiveness of instruction and student achievement. Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices. Identify students needing assistances and refer students with problems to Student Services. Cooperate with Student Services and Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment. Remain current of developments in the teaching field so that instruction provides for individual learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and can utilize alternative delivery methods.
