Description *This posting is for a July 6, 2026 start date.* Performs entry to intermediate skilled trades level work maintaining Town buildings, grounds, and park facilities, and related work as apparent or assigned. This position is designated as essential during emergency or disaster situations. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Essential Job Functions Facilities Maintenance Technician I Performs a wide variety of building maintenance and repair tasks involving one or more of the maintenance trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, welding and electrical work. Performs general carpentry work in the construction, repair or alteration of floors, walls, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens and various other wooden articles; builds cabinets; hangs and finishes drywall. Sands, paints, or stains walls, woodwork, cabinets, tables and other wooden articles. Assists with the installation of water and sanitary fixtures and equipment; repairs leaks; installs replacement fixtures; changes water filters. Maintains heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; changes filters; installs duct work, and chassis parts. Maintains and repairs equipment such as door hinges, locks, latches, and closures; builds and repairs bookshelves, desks, and cabinets. Completes work orders and inspection reports. Identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor. Operates equipment and hand tools in performance of work. Performs general cleaning and waste removal. Assists with snow removal and ice control. Assists grounds maintenance and streets staff as needed or requested. Assists with preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery. Performs
