Analyst – Strategy & Financial Modeling

Job Description

The Analyst – Strategy & Financial Modeling supports enterprise‑wide strategic initiatives by delivering high‑impact financial analysis, valuation work, and decision‑support materials for senior leadership. This role contributes to capital investment evaluation, corporate strategy development, and long‑range planning across U. S. Steel’s integrated, mini‑mill, and Tubular operations. The position offers broad exposure to Strategy, FP&A, and Business Planning, with frequent interaction with executive leadership. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain financial models to support CAPEX investments across NAFR, Mini Mill, and Tubular operations. Partner with FP&A to build robust business cases and provide analytical insights that support strategic and operational decision‑making. Support valuation analyses related to capital projects, mergers and acquisitions, markets, products, and emerging technologies. Conduct industry, market, and competitive research to inform strategic recommendations. Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and long‑range planning activities as needed. Collaborate with Business Planning and cross‑functional teams to support execution of strategic initiatives and alignment with enterprise objectives. Prepare presentations and analytical materials for senior leadership and the Board of Directors. Provide direct support to the Vice President of Strategy, including coordination of strategic initiatives, communications, and key deliverables. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a strategy‑oriented role within investment banking, management consulting, valuation, corporate development, or a related field. Strong financial modeling skills, including experience with CAPEX analysis, valuation models, forecasting, and budgeting.
