Description Senior Highway Transportation Engineer (PE) – NYSDOT, OpenRoads, Roadway Design Lead Albany-area highway and roadway design work including the NYSDOT’s Reimagine 787 project, Albany County and many more projects in the Capital District and Hudson Valley Markets. Serve as the senior technical authority for roadway geometry, design reviews, constructability, standards, mentoring, and Engineer-of-Record-level work on high-profile transportation assignments. What You’ll Do Serve as senior technical lead and subject matter expert for highway design plans and construction cost estimates for new and rehabilitation projects. Perform and oversee advanced geometric roadway design, including alignments, profiles, cross-sections, grading, interchange layouts, and corridor improvements. Conduct senior technical reviews for quality, constructability, regulatory compliance, and adherence to NYSDOT, state, and local design standards. Support project managers on scope, schedule, budget, client coordination, subconsultant coordination, RFIs, site visits, and construction-phase technical questions. Serve as Engineer of Record when appropriate and mentor junior engineers while strengthening roadway design standards and team capability. Requirements What We’re Looking For B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field; M.S. preferred. 20 years of progressive highway and roadway design experience with a Professional Engineering License (PE). Advanced proficiency in MicroStation or OpenRoads and demonstrated experience with NYSDOT design standards. Experience serving as senior technical reviewer, design authority, technical lead, or Engineer of Record on complex transportation work.
