Duties and Responsibilities Provide quality care and services to patients by assisting dentists and other staff in a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. Affect the efficiency and productivity of patient flow through timely, accurate and professional preparation of patients and patient information. Take and process x-rays and perform other diagnostic tests under the direction of a dentist. Ensure that all necessary tools and materials are in place for the dentist prior to every treatment or procedure. Sterilize dental instruments and equipment for each patient. Organize and maintain clean work areas and disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations. Assist with front office tasks as needed, including patient scheduling, billing, and record-keeping. Provide instructions to patients regarding postoperative care and general oral health care as directed by the dentist.
